How does it all work?
STEP ONE - CONTACT ME
Email or call me to discuss your ideal imagery and we will arrange a pre-shoot consultation. Booking details and session fee of $200 is required at this stage to secure your session.
STEP TWO - THE SHOOT
Time stands still for an hour or so during your session. No technology, no devices, no distractions. Just time to be present, slow down, breathe and have fun making memories with your loved ones.
STEP 3 - VIEWING & ORDERING
Shortly after your session, I send you a small sneak peek, and then arrange for you to come to the studio to enjoy a slideshow of your entire gallery of retouched images. Viewing appointments are 2-3 days after your session.
STEP 4 - PRODUCT READY
Approximately 2-4 weeks after your images are finalised your print products will be ready. You can collect from the studio or if required delivered directly to your home.
WHERE WILL OUR PORTRAIT SESSION BE HELD?
I am a natural light photographer, which means the majority of shoots are held outdoors. Together we will choose the perfect location for your session. We all have places that make us feel relaxed and at peace, or places that hold special memories and meaning. Choose a place for your photos that feels like YOU. I’m always happy to suggest ideas based on what you have in mind! I am also happy to shoot at new locations and am willing to travel. Some locations I frequently shoot at:
- SYDNEY: Hills District, Northern Beaches, Eastern Suburbs & Western Sydney
- OUTSIDE OF SYDNEY: Central Coast, Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands & Hawkesbury
Unfortunately, there are a few places that are strict about the use of commercial photography on their premises. This includes Bondi Beach, Balmoral Beach, Centennial Park, Queens Park, Moore Park, Royal Botanic Gardens, The Domain, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont Wharves, and Sydney Opera House.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR PORTRAIT SESSION?
Click here to see my PINTEREST board for ideas on what to wear. “Be comfortable, be yourself!” The most important thing is that you wear your favourite clothes that make you feel the most confident!
I prefer photographing people in neutral colours and solids, because I want the focus to be on you, not what you are wearing! When in doubt, go with richer, deeper tones or neutrals. Deep reds, burnt oranges, creams, greys, soft or darker blues always look good!
I FEEL AWKWARD AND NERVOUS IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA! HELP?!
Everyone feels nervous at first on a photo shoot, even me – but don’t worry. I’ll give you direction and a few little activities that will have you laughing and feeling comfortable in no time! I promise it will not feel like a photo shoot at all.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
We will meet at your selected location at the scheduled time and go over any special needs or photo requests. I want you to feel comfortable, so we will spend a few minutes getting to know each other prior to the shoot.
We will shoot with various backgrounds and explore our location to create different styles of images. I aim to keep the session relaxed and comfortable for you and your loved ones to capture a balance of both candid and posed moments.
Newborn sessions are best when your baby is within the first two weeks of life. I like to photograph newborn sessions at your home where you can all relax and enjoy precious moments with your new baby. I will give you and your family plenty of time on the day, as newborns can be unsettled and require feeding and this takes time. I don’t want you to feel stressed or pressured to have everything ready and perfect.
HOW LONG DOES MY PORTRAIT SESSION GO FOR?
Depending on your type of session, the length can vary anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours, but typically sessions are 60-90 minutes in duration.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?
If you have young children, please feel free to bring snacks or toys along with you. Also take into consideration weather conditions on the day, as you may need to bring a water bottle if it is hot or a jacket or blanket between shots in cooler weather.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PORTRAIT SESSION?
At the end of the portrait session, you will receive my investment guide to go over before your purchasing appointment.
HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN SEE THE PHOTOS FROM OUR SESSION?
Once your portrait session is over, I immediately transfer your photos onto my computer with triple backups, before beginning the editing process. It takes approximately 3 days to retouch and prepare your gallery of 40-60 images and once they are ready to be viewed, you will receive a text or email.
WHERE IS YOUR VIEWING STUDIO?
The viewing studio is located in Stanhope Gardens. The Kellyville Metro Station is an easy 5 minute walk to the studio.
WHY SHOULD I INVEST IN A PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT SESSION?
Today, it’s normal to flick through your phone quickly to see images of your children or to hardly ever see those family pictures again that are buried somewhere deep on your mobile phone or computer’s hard drive.
There is something so much more meaningful in being able to physically see and touch a tangible image. As a professional photographer, I provide you with stunning images that are carefully printed on to a museum-quality, fine art paper and beautifully framed. This fine art photography can literally last a lifetime, with the end product guaranteed to last 75 years, if not more.
Being able to display a physical reminder in your home of your love as a couple, the sense of excitement during pregnancy or the unique bond your family shares is priceless.
Investing in fine art photography is not just investing in a picture, but in lifelong memories that can be treasured and remembered forever – an investment in your family history.
HOW FAR OUT ARE YOU BOOKED?
I am typically booked one month in advance.
